Quality Enhancement Research Initiative

Funding Opportunities for VA Investigators

Resources

Enhancing the real-world impact of research

Located in the VA Office of Research and Development under the Health Services Research & Development service, QUERI adapts rigorous research methods and findings to meet health system priorities and Veteran needs. Since its inception in 1998, QUERI has grown to support a national network of 200+ investigators who have completed more than 500 rigorous peer-reviewed implementation, evaluation, dissemination, and training initiatives addressing VA priorities.

QUERI funding opportunities provide support for VA investigator teams to work as equal partners with frontline providers, clinical managers, and healthcare leaders to ensure Veterans have access to the highest quality of care.

  • VA investigators and research offices: Check out the QUERI Global Request for Applications (RFA) under the Health Services Research & Development section of the ORD RFA site (VA intranet only; if you have intranet access, copy and paste this URL into your browser https://vaww.research.va.gov/funding/rfa.cfm). If you have questions about the RFA, contact vacoqueri@va.gov.
  • VAMCs, VA providers, other VA staff: If you are interested in partnering with QUERI or participating in QUERI implementation and quality improvement training, contact the QUERI Center for Evaluation and Implementation Resources (CEIR) at ceir@va.gov for more information.
  • Extramural investigators, post docs, graduate and undergraduate students: If you are interested in getting involved with QUERI, contact your closest VA research office to explore opportunities. Note: QUERI is an intramural program, and all principal investigators must be VA employees.

"I have really enjoyed doing quality improvement work with frontline providers as well as doing a thoughtful but practical evaluation of these quality improvement efforts. I'm particularly happy about the work we have done that has directly improved clinical practice..."
