AcademyHealth Conference on Dissemination and Implementation in Health: HSR/QUERI Presentations, Panels, and Early-Career Technical Assistance Workshop

HSR/QUERI will have two sponsored panel sessions and is organizing an Early-Career Technical Assistance Workshop at the NIH/AcademyHealth D&I Conference in Arlington, VA on December 8–11, 2024. Approximately 30 HSR/QUERI investigators will present alongside other scientists and leaders from NIH, AHRQ, highly ranked universities, implementation centers, and health research organizations.

HSR/QUERI Sponsored Sessions

Panel: Improving the Quality, Efficiency, and Experience of Care for At-Risk, Underserved, and Aging Veterans. Monday, December 9 from 2:45-4:00 p.m.

Enhancing access, quality, efficiency, and equity of health services is a priority for U.S. health systems. Drawing on VA QUERI’s experience, this panel will highlight implementation science frameworks and methods to support the scale-up, spread, and sustainment of evidence-based programs and policies for aging Veterans, rural residing Veterans, homeless-experienced Veterans, women Veterans, and Veterans who identify as LGBTQ+. Panelists will discuss the successes, challenges, and opportunities of partnering with multilevel interested parties/impacted groups to implement and evaluate programs to drive health equity.

Using Implementation Science to Transform Care for Women Veterans. Wednesday, December 11 from 8:30–9:45 a.m.

This session will highlight studies that use implementation science and Veteran engagement to improve women Veterans’ health, as well as health system leadership insights on using research to make evidence-based system changes. The session will feature the following studies:

  • A cluster randomized trial of effectiveness of an evidence-based quality improvement approach to gender tailoring VA’s patient-centered medical home model.
  • A hybrid type 1 trial of a web-based decision support tool to address gaps in reproductive planning services.
  • A hybrid type 1 trial of a weight management program, including Veteran women’s preferences and experiences.
  • A feasibility study of a Veteran-informed enhanced maternity care coordination model that incorporates doula services to improve pregnancy outcomes.

Early-Career Technical Assistance Workshop. Wednesday, December 11 from 1:00– 5:00 p.m.

QUERI’s Center for Evaluation and Implementation Resources (CEIR) is coordinating the 2024 Early-Career Technical Assistance Workshop, which is open to all D&I conference attendees and will take place on Wednesday, December 11 from 1:005:00 p.m. at the Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA. The workshop will include presentations on current D&I funding trends and new directions in D&I methods from leading experts in the field. For more information, please contact ditaworkshop@va.gov.
